I have invented instant weathering decals in early 2012. It was a logical consequence of the woodgrain decal development process. Achieving cool results by involving a media we are familiar with. Pretty short story, but that was it. First I did a few tests and combined these weathering decals with painting methods.

It depends on what you wanna do, the principle is the same: We pre-paint a backdrop and we apply an effect using a decal. Thats it.

Ok. Now lets find out a general way how to be successful with the stuff.

Its as simple as this:

Use a decal for the "unpaintable job".

It doesn´t matter if we have a national insignia, a Graffiti or a weathering effect: It´s always about the "difficult-to-paint" sort of job, right?

This is a kewl point to start from, isn´t it? You are on the safe side now and you can leave it as it is or combine it with your own style. That´s where the magic begins my friend....;-)
